Drilling Rig Move Permit Notification:

If you are submitting a drilling rig move permit, and your route includes travel on a township roadway, Mountrail County now requires WRITTEN authorization (email is fine) from the Township Board of Supervisor's agreeing to your route, to be received by Road and Bridge department, PRIOR to approving your permit. Mountrail County Road & Bridge Overweight & Oversize Permitting Policy

 

Purpose:

 

Set forth additional permitting policies specific for Mountrail County that are not defined in the guidelines of the Western Dakota Energy Association Uniform County Truck Permit System (LoadPass).

 

Guidelines/Purchasing of Permits:

 

Mountrail County participates in the Western Dakota Energy Association (WDEA) Uniform County Truck Permit System (LoadPass) for permitting of overweight or oversize non-divisible loads traveling on county and participating township roads. Go to www.loadpasspermits.com for guidelines and to purchase required permits.

 

Approval of Permits by County:

 

Mountrail County Road & Bridge Department to the best of their ability will approve permits in a timely manner during working days from 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., C.S.T., Monday through Friday. Approval of permits on non-working days, weekends and holidays will be at the discretion of the Mountrail County Road & Bridge Department.

 

Drilling Rig Permits:

 

Mountrail County Road & Bridge Department requires written authorization (email is fine) from the Township Board of Supervisor's for all Drilling Rig Moves within our jurisdiction. Authorization must specify exact route which will be traveled on.

 

Super Load Permits:

 

Travel in excess of 290,000lbs or greater on Mountrail County roadways requires additional review and authorizations. Please contact the Road and Bridge Department directly for further instructions if travel is needed at these weights.

 

Revocation of Permits by County:

 

Mountrail County has the authority to revoke permits when the holder violates or abuses the privilege or conditions of the permits issued through Western Dakota Energy Association (WDEA) Uniform County Truck Permit System (LoadPass) policies set forth by Mountrail County, or is non-compliant with provisions of the laws of the State of North Dakota.

 

Refund/Extension Policy:

 

Mountrail County does not refund permits. Mountrail County does however allow for date extensions due to inclement weather or for a legitimate reason as allowed by the Mountrail County Road & Bridge Department.

 

Travel Restrictions:

 

Mountrail County does not allow "Roading" of any earthmoving equipment within our County. Permits do not authorize travel on shoulders of road or within road right of way. All permits shall require a minimum distance of 1,000 feet between vehicles in a convoy of two or more vehicles.
